Haskell Model

Haskell Model : A representation of the earthquake source by a ramp-function slip propagating unilaterally at a uniform velocity along the long dimension of a narrow rectangular fault surface (Haskell, 1964). It is specified by 5 parameters, i.e., fault length, fault width, final slip, rupture velocity and rise time. See Aki and Richards (2002 or 2009, p. 498-503), and Purcaru and Berckhemer (1982) for a compilation of earthquakes with these parameters determined by various authors. See IS 3.1 in this Manual, Udias (2002, p. 99-100), and Eq. (3.8) in Ben-Zion (2003).
