Helmke Drum Test

Helmke Drum Test : A test for measuring particle shedding of a suit used for cleanroom applications. The suit is tumbled for 10 minutes at 10 revolutions per minute in a stainless steel drum having an enclosed volume of 1 cubic foot to determine the average rate of release of particles 0.3 microns and larger. An automatic particle counter is used to sample the air at the rate of one cubic foot per minute at each minute during the ten minute test period. The particle counts are then summarized.
