Heterogeneity 2
Heterogeneity 2 : A medium is heterogeneous when its physical properties change along the space coordinates. A critical parameter affecting seismic phenomena is the scale of heterogeneities as compared with the seismic wavelengths. For a relatively large wavelength, for example, an intrinsically isotropic medium with oriented heterogeneities may behave as a homogeneous anisotropic medium. See: Cara (2002)
