Hose Lay 01

Hose Lay 01 :

(Fire Pr) The evolution or method used to stretch hose lines at a fire. In forward lay (also called Straight Lay or Hydrant-To-Fire Lay) the hose is stretched from the water source toward the fire. In reverse lay (also called Fire To Hydrant Lay) the hose is stretched from fire to water source. In the first case the hose-carrying apparatus stops nearer to the fire, in the other nearer to the hydrant. Note: The terms forward and reverse lay are sometimes used to indicate the deployment of hose with respect to the manner in which the hose load is stowed in the hose compartment. If the coupling that comes off first is the one required, it is called a forward lay. If a double female or double male must be used to "reverse" the hose coupling, it is a reverse lay
