(ICT) A host name is the unique name of a computer on the Internet, which is normally written as a series of letters, for example www.hull.ac.uk. A host name is the human-friendly form of the host's numerical IP address, i.e. it's an alias for the "real" Internet address of the host computer, e.g. 150.237.176.24.
