Hot spot can be described by examples of different disciplines. (1) A hot spot can be a radio-active contaminated area which shows a significantly higher contagion compared to its environment. There occurred hot spots, e.g. during Castor transports in Germany. (2) In geology a hot spot is a place under the earth's crust where magma rises up over a long time period. The tectonic plate moves over the spot. Therefore, an island chain arises of which the youngest areas are volcanically active. (3) Concerning man-made hazards this term relates to an area where the concentration of critical infrastructure is high. Therefore, this region is potentially endangered for attacks
