HYGAS Hydrogasification : Also known as IGT HYGAS, after the Institute of Gas Technology where it was developed. A coal gasification process, intended to maximize the production of methane for use as SNG (substitute natural gas). Crushed coal is slurried in light oil and dried in a fluidized bed.
