Hyrometer 2 : (Techn) A graduated tubular instrument used to measure the specific gravity of liquids by floating the tube in the liquid and reading the density value directly on a scale inscribed on the tube. The denser the liquid, the higher the instrument floats. More complex instruments incorporate electrical circuits that record readings automatically
