IASPEI Magnitude Standards
IASPEI Magnitude Standards : Standards for magnitude measurements elaborated by and international working group of the Commission on Seismic Observation and Interpretation (IASPEI, 2005 and 2011). These standards aim at a) the reduction of measurement errors due to the application of different procedures for calculating magnitudes of the same type, b) the wider use of broadband magnitudes from body and surface waves that are in better agreement with original definitions and c) maximizing the benefits of modern digital broadband records, simulation filters and signal processing tools for collecting many more globally compatible amplitude, period and magnitude data for research and other applications
