Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health (IDLH) 20 : The maximum concentration from which, in the event of respiratory failure, one could escape within 30 minutes without a respirator and without experiencing any escape-impairing (for example, severe eye irritation) or irreversible health effects (Department of Health and Human Services, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Publication No. 90-117). (Respiratory protection and sufficient oxygen to support life (at least 16 percent by volume) are addressed in Code of Federal Regulations, Part 1910.134, Title 29 e(3) and g(5))
