Isomers 4

Isomers 4 :

Substances whose molecules are made of the same numbers of the atoms, but the atoms are differently arranged, e. g. (1) ethyl alcohol (CH3CH2. OH) and methyl ether (CH3OCH3) (substances not related); both arc C2H6. (2) butane CH3CH2. CH2CH3 and isobutane (CH3)2. CH. CH3 (substances similar) (3) The two forms of lactic acid; here the atoms are joined in the same way but differently arranged in space: A change from one substance into an isomer (i. e. rearrangement of atoms, not gaining or losing any atoms), is an isomeric change
