Isotopes 30

Isotopes 30 : Atoms of the same chemical element but having different mass numbers See: Atom. For example, the chemical element uranium as it is found in nature contains three isotopes having atomic masses of 234, 235, and 238. Still another kind of uranium atom having an atomic mass of 233 can be made from thorium. The separation of isotopes may be accomplished by methods which take advantage of the difference in weight between the atoms of a single chemical element; if the separation is not complete, the resulting material is said to be enriched in one or more of the isotopes. The difference in mass number is due to the varying number of neutrons in the nucleus
