Joint 02 : (1) (Mech Eng) The point or surface of contact between mechanical parts. Note: Joints may be temporary (e. g. , interlocking, snapped, screwed, bolted) or permanent (e. g. , glued, mortared, welded, riveted). Friction joints are held by nails, clips, etc. , and shrink or press fits. Articulated joints are variations of the hinge. See also: Universal Joint.
