(Chem) A highly toxic organic base, chemical formula C6H5NH2; sp gr (1)0235; mp 6. 2oC; bp 184. 4oC; flash point (open cup) 75. 5oC. Aniline is a colorless oily liquid that becomes brown when exposed to air and light. It is an extremely hazardous substance; the liquid and vapors are readily absorbed through the skin. In gaseous or vapor form aniline is a chemical asphyxiant. Used mainly in the manufacture of rubber, dyes, pharmaceuticals, and plastics. Also called: Phenylamine; Aminobenzene
