Knot 03 : (Fire Pr) A tie or fastening formed by interweaving flexible ropes or cords for the purpose of lifting, binding, pulling, or securing objects. Note: Knots are used to make a loop, noose, knob, tie a bundle, or join one line to another. There is a large variety of knots, some made for purely decorative purposes, but the most important practical kinds are hitches, reefs, bends, bights, and splices. See: Line.
