Learning Curve 1 : (Educ) A graphic plot of performance with respect to the number of trials in a learning task. Note: Learning rate generally follows one of three basic patterns, depending on the individual, the task, and other factors: (1) rapid initial rise in learning followed by gradual decline; (2) gradual and steady acceleration in learning as practice continues; (3) gradual initial increase, followed by a dramatic spurt of accelerated learning, followed in turn by gradual deceleration
