Level Gage
Level Gage : (Techn) An instrument for determining the quantity of liquid in a container by measuring the distance between its surface and a known reference point. Note: The simplest level gage is a graduated stick that is dipped manually into the liquid; the wetted portion indicating the depth. Gage glasses mounted on the side of a liquid container show the level of the liquid directly. Float gages show liquid levels on dials. Other gages measure differential pressure, hydrostatic head, etc. , in different ways to determine liquid levels. See also: Fluid Gage
