Literature, Technical : (Info Sci) The principal medium of disseminating technical information to scientists, engineers, practitioners, and researchers in printed form. Note: Primary sources of technical information include periodicals, monographs, research reports, patents, and manufacturer's publications. Secondary sources include lists of and guides to literature, largely through subject access points. These includeabstract journals, indexes, bibliographies, and library catalogs. Tertiary sources are educational in nature, including reviews, advances, progress series, treatises, surveys, and text books on subjects in particular fields by authoritative experts. A quaternary source is the reference work: encyclopedias, dictionaries, handbooks, tables, and directories
