Long-Term Recovery Office : This is an office established by FEMA near a disaster site following a presidentially declared disaster, such as Hurricane Katrina. The Long-Term Recovery Office, which is staffed by both Federal and State employees, is established to provide support to State and local community officials, business, and citizens during the period of reconstruction following a disaster. Long term recovery is the year-round focus of the office, with particular attention paid to helping communities recover in a way that better prepares them for future disasters.
