Loss Ratio 3

Loss Ratio 3 : A loss ratio is usually determined for direct property losses and corresponds to a relative loss. It is calculated by dividing the absolute monetary loss of an object by its total value. Loss ratios can be determined for single objects (e.g. loss ratio of a building) or for populations (e.g. portfolios). In the latter case the total loss expenditures are related to the sums insured of all contracts in the insurance portfolio under observation (i.e. including those not affected by a loss event)
