Mean, Arithmetic 2 : The measure of central location commonly called the average. It is calculated by adding together all the individual values in a group of measurements and dividing by the number of values in the group. For example ,five students have the following test scores: 93, 68, 83, 96, and 85. First, the sum of the scores is found 93+68+83+96+85=425. Then, the sum of the scores is divided by the number of test scores (in this case, 5). 425/5=85. Thus, the average test score is 85
