(n.) Geology. A minor, secondary fault, usually one of a set, whose sense ofdisplacement is opposite to its associated major and synthetic faults. Antithetic-synthetic fault sets are typical in areas of normal faulting. Ant: Synthetic Fault. See: Normal Fault
