Message Dropper
Message Dropper : The message dropper is a 14 foot piece of cloth, weighted at one end. It has a pouch sewn into it, into which a written message is placed. The message is dropped at low altitude from the Buffalo or Hercules. It is usually used when an aircraft has been located undamaged on the ground. The message will usually alert the Pilot to turn on his/her radio and contact the search aircraft. (Marine SAR)
