Mine Action :
Refers to all activities that aim to reduce the social, economic, and environmental impact on populations of landmines and other unexploded ordnance. The objectives of mine action are to reduce the risk from landmines and UXOs to a level where people can live safely; in which social, economic, health, environmental and development can occur free from the constraints of landmines; and in which the victim's need could be addressed UN mine action encompasses five complementary core components: (1) Mine awareness and risk reduction education; (2) Minefield survey, mapping, marking, and clearance; (3) Victim assistance, including rehabilitation and reintegration; (4) Stockpile destruction; and (4) Advocacy to stigmatise the use of landmines and support a total ban on antipersonnel landmines.
