Mixing Height 1 : A term commonly used in air pollution meteorology to deNote: the maximum height above the earth's surface to which relatively vigorous mixing due to convection takes place. Above this layer, a stable atmosphere exists which acts to suppress vertical mixing. The mixing height is dependent on the vertical temperature profile. Recommended SI unit is metres (m).
