Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI) Scale 1 :

An earthquake intensity scale originally developed by Italian seismologist Giuseppe Mercalli in 1902. The scale describes the effects of an earthquake in twelve categories from I (not felt by people) to XII (total damage) (see intensity). The version of this scale used in Australia is the same as that published for New Zealand by Eiby (1966). [Eiby, G. 1966.
