Multiagency Coordinating Group (MAC Group)


Multiagency Coordinating Group (MAC Group) :

(1) A group of administrators or executives, or their appointed representatives, who are typically authorized to commit agency resources and funds. A MAC Group can provide coordinated decisionmaking and resource allocation among cooperating agencies, and may establish the priorities among incidents, harmonize agency policies, and provide strategic guidance and direction to support incident management activities. MAC Groups may also be known as multiagency committees, emergency management committees, or as otherwise defined by the Multiagency Coordination System. (NIMS 12/08). (2) Typically formed by senior level executives, administrators or their designees representing the various organizations participating in the MAC System and that commit resources and funds. Based upon their decision-making authority for their respective organizations, these representatives can collectively de-conflict priorities amongst the representative agencies and make policy level decisions relevant to the response that affects multiple organizations.
