NAT (Network Address Translation)


NAT (Network Address Translation) : (ICT) (HE, INT) A tool used to protect private network IP addresses from the public Internet by translating a publicly available IP address into a private network IP address or addresses. While NAT can be used as a security tool, it is also used to reduce the network costs by reducing the number of public IP addresses necessary for a subscriber network. It also helps expand a network while protecting the current IP-based account scheme for that given network
