National Emergency Management Committee (NEMC)
National Emergency Management Committee (NEMC) : As the peak national emergency management body, the NEMC will provide advice and direction on the coordination and advancement of Commonwealth and State/Territory interests in emergency management arrangements and procedures, through: (1) development of joint policies; (2) advancement of nationwide capability for the management of emergencies and disasters; (3) identification of national/multi-state needs and formulation of strategies to meet those needs; (4) provision of strategic guidance on national emergency management training needs and implementation policies; (5) provision of civil defence policy guidance; and, (6) provision of advice to the Director General, Emergency Management Australia, on the effectiveness of, or need for changes to, Commonwealth support programs.
