National Radiological Defense Plan (1958) :
The first national radiological defense plan was developed in 1958 as an annex to the National Plan for Civil Defense, shortly thereafter renamed The National Plan for Civil Defense and Defense Mobilization. "The plan assigned radiologtical defense responsibilities to Federal, State, and local governments, and provided the guidelines for the development of State and local radiological defense plans". This was followed shortly by the development of a Radiological Defense Planning Guide. (FCDA, Annual Report 1958, p. 7).
