Natural Gas 12 : Gas formed at deep depths by thermal cracking of sedimentary organic matter or oil at high temperatures. This is the natural gas used distributed throughout the gas service. It contains mainly methane (87-96%), ethane (1. 8-5. 1%), propane (0. 1-1. 5%), isobutane (0. 01-0. 3%), butane (0. 01-0. 03), isopentane (<0. 14%), and pentane (<0. 04%). Syn: Thermogenic gas.
