Neutral Conductor (Neutral Wire) 1

Neutral Conductor (Neutral Wire) 1 : One of the conductors of a three-wire or four-wire system. The neutral is usually earthed, and under conditions of balanced load carries no current. In a three-wire d. c. system it is at an intermediate pressure between the positive and the negative conductors, and so was called the neutral. (MF 6B).
