Neutral Equilibrium

Neutral Equilibrium : Also called: indifferent equilibrium: A property of the steady state of a system which exhibits neither instability nor stability according to the particular criterion under consideration. A disturbance introduced into such an equilibrium will thus be neither amplified nor damped. This term is most often used in connection with the parcel method of stability analysis; if the perturbation is a wave, "neutral equilibrium" and "stability" are often used interchangeably.
