New York State Department of Health (Nysdoh or Doh) : DOH is the state agency responsible for protecting public health in New York State. DOH records the occurrence of birth defects, cancer, AIDS and other diseases, and conducts research into the causes and prevention of these diseases. DOH also carries out programs to prevent or reduce disease or harmful health effects. Some of these programs provide services such as nutritional programs for mothers and infants; other programs regulate hospitals, home health care and public water supplies.
