Chemistry and Chemical Disasters. A pale yellow, viscous, explosive liquid (CH2NO3CHNO3CH2 NO3) that has an ignition temperature of 5180F and an explosion point of 5000F. It is sensitive to shock and heat, and is highly toxic if ingested, inhaled, or absorbed through the skin; it is used as an explosive, particularly in the production and manufacture of dynamite.
