NSSE 2

NSSE 2 : National Special Security Event. A classified document which is a part of Presidential Decision Directive-62 (1998) deals with the coordination of federal anti-terrorism and counter-terrorism assets for events of national interest. PDD-62 formalized, delineated, and clarified the roles and responsibilities of federal agencies in the development of security plans for major events to eliminate duplication of efforts and resources. When the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) designates a National Special Security Event (NSSE), the United States Secret Service, an entity within DHS, assumes its mandated role as the lead agency for the design and implementation of the operational security plan. The Secret Service has a core strategy of forming partnerships with law enforcement and other security and public safety officials for advance planning and coordination in the areas of venue and motorcade route security, communications, credentialing, and training
