In Germany (as of January 2013), nine nuclear power plants with an electric gross output of 12,696 MW are in operation. In 2012 they generated 100 billion kWh of electricity. The unit and energy availability amounted to 90 %. 27 nuclear power plants - including experimental, prototype and demonstration facilities built in the 60s and 70s - have been decommissioned to date.
