Pascal (Pa) 2
Pascal (Pa) 2 : The SI derived unit for pressure or stress, named after Blaise Pascal (1623-62) for his pioneering work on hydrostatics. It is defined as a force of one newton per square meter (N m-2 ), or (m-1 kg s-2 ). In older seismological literature the unit for pressure and stress is usually expressed in the cgs unit bar, with 1 MPa (i.e., 106 Pa) = 10 bar
