Pechini

Pechini : A process for making mixed oxide ceramics from organic precursors. It is based on the ability of certain +-hydroxy-carboxylic acids, such as citric acid, to form polybasic acid chelates with metal ions. The chelates undergo polyesterification when heated with a polyol such as ethylene glycol. Further heating produces a resin that is then calcined. This method yields very homogeneous products. It was originally developed for making alkaline earth and lead titanates and has since been used for making niobates, ferrites, nickelates, and even ceramic superconductors
