Performance Appraisal


Performance Appraisal : A systematic and objective assessment of employees' performance and capabilities, against set criteria. It is normally carried out by superiors, but increasingly, it is also done by peers, subordinates and self. Performance appraisal is normally undertaken for developmental purposes and reward, but far too many employers utilize it as a tool for punishment. Progressive appraisal methods include the interview, assessment of performance against objectives, varying tests and group exercises
