Permeation 5 : Refers to the passage of a chemical through a protective clothing material on a molecular level. Gases may be passing through the material leaving no detectable physical signs of damage to the clothing. Unlike degradation, testing for permeation involves elaborate gas detection instruments. It is the highest level of testing available for protective clothing fabrics
